The fact that you're reading these words means that you're concerned about the issue of abstinence. You live in a society that is filled to the brim with temptations, distractions, and distortions about sex. You are bombarded with images that glamorize sex outside marriage. In fact, you are subjected to new pressures and problems that were largely unknown to earlier generations. And at every corner you are confronted with the message that premarital sex is a harmless activity, something that should be considered "recreational." That message is a terrible lie with tragic consequences. God has a plan for your life, a plan that does not include sex before marriage. So do yourself a favor: wait. Abstinence is a choice. Please choice wisely.
Why does the Christian religion take so much issue with sex? The only things wrong with it are STDs and pregnancy, both of which can be effectively prevented. Abstinence is a personal choice but it definitely shouldn't be mandatory, if two people want to have sex with each other than that's their own business.
Honestly I sometimes don't know. Im at a point in my faith where I dont need to know why God saids something because I trust Him. So I can't give you that great of an answer. But I do know this God said in Hebrews 13:4 "Let marriage be held in honor among all, and let the marriage bed be undefiled"
Sex isnt evil. Marriage is just holy. It is meant as the joining of a man and women, in a way that's what sex is. Two people joining together.
The Bible also teaches: "that at the beginning the Creator 'made them male and female,' and said, 'For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and the two will become one flesh' ? So they are no longer two, but one. Therefore what God has joined together, let man not separate." Matthew 19: 4-6
Its said two becoming one, and not separating. Staying as one, "connected," together forever not just while you date.
And then also even if you feel it doesnt matter if you wait, sex no matter what should be with people who are in love.
1 Corinthians 13:4-7: "Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud.5 It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs.6 Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth.7 It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres."
Sex can't just be something we do, it has to have a meaning and for most people it is what they call love. For a believer though what 1 Corinthians said is what love is truly and really not many people who arnt married have love like that.
This best chance wasn't an answer you wanted to hear, but I don't really have an answer for you. If you don't believe in the Bible then there really isnt a reason to wait. But if you do the answer comes from understanding what God meaning of marriage, sex, and love is. And when you put those 3 reason together, that is why he tells us to wait. Its just most people don't know what his meaning is, and you could say why didn't God make it more clear. Well if you were the creator of everything and had a reason for something would you need to explain yourself. No. There is a reason, and I know where it comes from, but what it really is i'm not sure. But I trust my God.
Well, I hate to disappoint you, but sex unfortunately is just something people are going to do. Different people express their feelings in different ways. There is nothing gross, dishonorable or evil about having sex with someone you aren't currently married to and it should stay that way.
I don't disagree with you, but my job is not to teach what I want. It's to teach the message of the Bible. And it said to wait. Everyone can choose to follow it or not. Truthfully premarital sex is a topic in the Bible so we do need to talk about it, but its not a really big focus so it shouldn't be as much as it is today. The reason it is, is because when there is something happening in society people go to the Bible to see what it said about it and it goes from nothing more then a teaching and a guideline to something that is forced. You can choose to wait or not, Bible is a map you can follow it or not.
I think such sins frivolously practiced are rather uncivilized, for it can lead to jealousy, envy, broken relationships, diseases, and most of all unplanned pregnancies in which some cases the men suddenly abandon the women.
Glad to see that not everyone on DeviantArt is a sexual deviant.
And this ideology is why Christianity became so popular during the time of the Romans; just above a good pair of oxen was a women, and it was because Christ taught his disciples, who in turn taught others, that women are people too; ergo, Christian women in the Roman times became some of the most notable contributors to the early Christian church! And even today, the same rules apply; you just need to be patient, just like in your faith in God, and anything else in life worth having.
Finally someone has addressed this. It's crazy how we are bombarded with fornication through our entertainment and daily lives. People try to make it seem okay when you have birth control pills or a condom but that's not the point. It has so many consequences besides STDs and pregnancy. That's why God designed sex for man and wife only.
