Biblical Evidence #3: The StructureBy this I mean the means that God used to put His word on paper and into the hands of his people. There were over 40 human authors who wrote over a period of 1500 years. Even given the different authors and the many years, there is still a unity to what they were writing.
These 2 factors give support to the conclusion that the Bible was ultimately written by God because it becomes impossible to conclude that so many people were able to collude and come up with this book in their own power and wisdom.
I believe that one of the reasons that God used so many people and not just one person is that it silences the argument that one person was able to compose this book and start a religion just because they wanted to. It is impossible for people to even say that a group of people colluded together to come up with this because of the time frame of its writing. The number of people who were authors and the length of time involved suggest that there was some eternal being that was orchestrating
Biblical Evidence #2: The ScribesHow is it that we can determine if what the Apostle said was true? The same way we determine it today. We begin by looking at what they said. Do they give details that can be verified? Are their possible motives for them to make up the things they are saying? These thing usually accompany dishonesty: motive to lie, lack of details in account, and want few people to know.
So do the authors give details? The Bible is full of details. The Old Testament gives detailed histories of Kings and their reigns. The New Testament gives reigns of Emperors and other events and places that can be confirmed in their accuracy. The book of Acts is full of historical details. The Gospel of Luke gives numerous historical details.
Luke 1:5 “In the time of Herod king of Judea there was a priest name Zechariah, who belonged to the priestly division of Alijah; his wife Elizabeth was also a descendant of Aaron.”
Luke 2:1-2 “In those days Caesar Augustus issued a decree that a census sh
Biblical Evidence #1: The ScrollsThis would also be known as the manuscript evidence that we have. Manuscripts are written documents that we have of the various books of the Bible. They are copies that have been discovered that date back from the early second century, less than a generation from when the last books of the New Testament were written.
If these manuscripts are just copies, how can we be sure that what we read today is actually what the Apostles and prophets wrote down? To see if we can trust what we read today, let’s take a look at the Copying Process.
Copying the Word of God was taken seriously. Copyists had safety measures in place to make sure they produced exact copies. Copyists knew:
The number of letters in a particular line,
The number of lines in a particular book,
The number of words in a book,
The middle verse of a book,
The middle word of a book,
The middle letter of a book.
If their copy did not match these exactly, it was discarded and they began again. This process has proved to be qu
John and SteveJohn had just finished explaining to his coworker, Steve, about some of the changes going on in his life since he became a Christian. Steve had grown up going to church but he just went out of obligation and never really believed the stuff that was being said. John had grown up in a similar environment but had recently been attending a church that was preaching the Bible. He told Steve that he had heard things in this church that he never heard in the church where he grew up.
He told Steve that because we all haved sinned or done something wrong, we have all been separated from God. But, because God loves us so much, he sent Jesus to be the atoning sacrifice of our sins. Jesus paid the price for all of the wrong things we have done. John told Steve that if he recognized that he was a sinner and in need of a Savior and truly believed that Jesus died for his sins and was resurrected after three days, proving that he was truly God and had the authority to forgive sins, that Steve would be
Become Part of the MovementAs far as getting involved with foreverU there's lots you can do to be a part of this movement! We want this movement to become the next leading anti-bullying organization in the US. Sounds crazy, but we think it's quite the possibility. We want to get involved with schools, communities, and on the web. We are not just a movement raising awareness of bullying and its effects, but a movement getting to the core of bullying; the hearts and minds of teens. This is a solution and must be stressed.
When we all come together in an equal movement, supporting and encouraging the victims or bystanders, rising up to the bullies, change is made. Become part of something bigger, become part of change. The foreverU movement needs to become a lifestyle we should all live by. With your help, we can make it happen. Get involved and join the movement. Be part of the solution. Check out the different ways you can get involved in the links below!
Passing of a ClassmateVery recently, I heard the name of a local teen come up. I never knew her, or had even heard of her personally before, but it still terrifies me to see what transpired. I don’t know what her situation was, so I simply cannot understand what caused it. All I know is this; she played softball, she was a high school student, her last Facebook post was “People tell me “why don't you ask for help before you do impulsive things” I DO , NOBODY RESPONDS”, and not longer after that, she took her own life. Sadly, no one seemed to care until after her last day.
It didn't seem like people were flocking by the dozens to talk to her or try to help the situation. I saw no clear signs that many people were showering her with support. Not to say that people weren't, it just doesn't seem to me that most people cared. I have no doubt that some people genuinely did all that they could, but enough was clearly not done.
Why don’t police ever take action before such terrif
How Do I Make It Stop? When it comes to bullying, it's hard to understand, why? Why me? Why do I deserve this? Being teens that have either been victimized, or have actually been bullies, we want you to understand this when it comes to "making it stop". Bullying is one of those things where we need to understand that they don't know what they are doing. For some of our foreverU members who have actually gone through what you're currently going through and having the same negative thoughts. They continued to remind themselves this one thing. That they are not alone. You have people that care, its just about finding those people who accept you for who you are and surrounding yourself with those people that will prosper your purpose in life.
Each and every one of us have a purpose, we are all different. We are heavy believers of that and we are also heavy believers that there is a reason behind everything. We want you to understand that your life is a story. Each day is a new chapter. Every obstacle in life, ev
Why Love?People tend to get really confused when we say that LOVE is the cure...Let us explains. We aren't trying to spread the lovey dovey stuff most people think of when they hear love. We are digging deeper into the love that we show towards a family member or close friend.
When we say love, we're talking about reaching out to someone you may not even know, with a sense of compassion. The kind of love that makes them feel accepted and that no matter what happens in their life, that they have people who will help support them and prosper them through their struggles onto a path of hope.
People need people. We need to transform our lives to rethink, relive, and revive and reach out with that sense of love. With that, people will feel more accepted for whom they are and feel more motivated to pursue the purpose each and every one of us were given.
Definition of BullyingThe exact definition of bullying is intimidation of a weaker person or the process of intimidating or mistreating somebody in a weaker or in a more vulnerable situation. Bullying exists from childhood all the way to the work place. People have asked us why do we just focus on teens, what about the workplace? That's exactly what we are trying to prevent, and why we have a message that adults and teens can both relate to. We proclaim ourselves as a teen driven movement because we believe that if we involve and reach out to the younger generation, that as time goes on, they will have already become transformed into the better person and become more confident in whom they are and what they stand for.
Being teens, we have all agreed here at foreverU that the world takes the word, "bullying," to lightly. The fact of the matter is that we 100% do. The word is not taken seriously, which is why foreverU is stressing the deeper meaning behind bullying.
We believe bullying is physical and v
Dear DadYou have always been my favourite ghost
that blurry, little something in the corner of my mind
that never loved me
even when I begged on my knees in front of you like you were some kind of God.
I crawled. I cried.
I called you in my dreams when they turned into nightmares.
I saw a man once, I almost thought it was you but then he hugged a girl and I walked away with a sad smile.
I am writing this on a warm summer night and you don’t even know.
And you don’t even care.
I saw your picture on the news today.
A piece of paper unmarred by the destruction surrounding it.
A gloved hand held it up, like he would present a medal of honor.
But there is no honor to find here, only tears.
Between the rubble and the fire, you are the single recognisable witness.
There are people telling us untruths and half lies, only you know what really happened.
It hurts me to think that I might have known before your family did that you left us.
Television is a cruel thing. I hope they don't have that where you are now.
Because then you would see the chaos that is left, the chaos that is our world.
And you are too young and innocent to learn about these things.
Your picture tells us more than the reporters ever could.
Still, they talk about fault like it matters.
Cause and effect mean little for the one's like you.
You will forever be the face of this day.
You will be remembered.
Dearest SisterDearest Sister,
There are so many things I wish I could tell you, could give to you, for everything you've done for me. I know it's something I can never repay, and while a picture's worth a thousand words I'm not the greatest artist, so I'll try to put my feelings in words. Thank you. For being there for me, not just through the good times and the fun times, but also through the dark times when it seems like all but a few glimmering lights give me reason. If someone told me a little over a year ago, that when I joined Heart Shrine that I would meet the sister I should've known my whole life I probably would've rolled my eyes and laughed. I've done things in my life I regret, but one thing I will never regret is meeting you.
I still look back on that first little conversation and smile. Though it's been only a little over a year, it already feels like I've known you forever. My soul has always known you, my sister. You're smart, and strong, and beautiful. A talented artist, and the tru
What I Want to HearI love you... that's not what I was going for.
I never wanted us to fall in love
And you didn't either
I'm sorry... these aren't the words I want to hear.
You don't need to feel sorry for rejecting me
I don't want you to feel regret
It is okay.
My friend... no, it is too late for that.
The train has left some time ago
It would never be the same
So I let go.
What do I want
To hear from you
What could make me feel better
Even though you mean nothing to me any more?
There was nothing I had to give
I have never been interesting enough
Was I, in your eyes, just a boring, introverted nerd?
Will you see
That you've misjudged me
So if our paths cross tomorrow
I can hear that you were wrong?
cfxThey gather in a circle,
an unconscious nod to the times of kinships past.
Sipping from a bottle imbued with the innate power of a dopamine drip.
Smiling faces, muscle stretched ear to ear- immovable monuments being torn by a pirate's rack.
They look at one another, feigning interest through the desolate oblivion behind their eyes.
I see their pasts, presents, and inevitable futures as it flashes like a lightening crack through a marshmallow membrane behind glassed eyes.
All mistakes and regret murking personalities into an undifferentiated mass of voices and faces.
Jolly chuckles to unimportant tales, passing time, existence.
Looking through the trees I watch the deer bound, leap, as if to evade entrapment.
Another joke made, ominous empty mass hysteria- worthy an award.
The sky a dull desaturating mauve, dissociating into oil.
I'm fluid, saturating the disheveled mat, I'm loved.
I'm amusement incarnate.
A torrential st
Father GodI created people to need and love one another. That never changed, even when sin entered into the world. Yet in spite of my desire for loving harmony, families often make a mess of their relationship.
I warned David that his sin would cause problems within his family. Ultimately, after simmering and planning for two years, one of David's son killed the other in vengeance for their sister. If only they had sought me in the process...I love to help families secure and strengthen their bonds.
I believe in family. I believe in family so much that I'm building an eternal home for mine. Meanwhile, I'm right here in the midst of your earthly family-and my heart's desire is to help you come together in peace and mutual love. Just call on me for guidance. After all, I'm a Father. I want to help my children.
Nine TimesI saw him nine times.
The first time we were both sitting in the room together, getting ready to take the math test that would determine our placement. I was scatterbrained and throwing things around, trying to find the pencils that I had known I would need but had still just tossed in my purse. He was lounging backwards in his chair, looking for all the world as though he didn’t have a single care in the world, including the upcoming test. It annoyed me, that I was frantic and ready to scream, while someone else could be that relaxed.
I tested out of the class.
I don’t know if he did.
The second time I saw him, it was a few months after I arrived on campus. He was the one rushing and frantic this time, running across the square. He was probably late for class, though I had no way of knowing for sure. I was already lost in my own thoughts and ideas, deciding on my major and convincing people that yes, this is what I really want to do with my life. If they weren
