Literature Text

One of the questions that always seem to come up with people is “Is there any proof?” Unfortunately evolution and attacks on biblical doctrine are things that all Christians face at one time or another during their life, and the following information has been put together to help people defend what they believe in. If a person where to do the research, they would be shocked at how much proof is available to them.
What is apologetics?
Christian apologetics is a field of Christian theology that aims to present a rational basis for the Christian faith, defend the faith against objections, and expose the perceived flaws of other world views. Christian apologetics have taken many forms over the centuries, starting with Paul of Tarsus, including writers such as Origen and Augustine of Hippo, and continuing currently with the modern Christian community, through the efforts of many authors in various Christian traditions such as C.S. Lewis. Apologists have based their of Christianity on historical evidence, philosophical arguments, scientific investigation, and other disciplines.
Apologetics simply means to give a defense-to be able to say why you believe what you believe. The term comes from the Greek word “apologia” which meant to “make a defense.” In biblical times, to make an Apolgia was to deliver a formal speech or giving an explanations in reply to a question, charge, or accusation.
Why is it important for us to understand Apologetics? Because we are told in 1 Peter 3:15: “But set apart Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give a reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect.”
John 8:32 “and you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.”)
